Scope of this statement

This page describes current website practices and their limits. Where an operational detail or an assessment has not been confirmed, it is identified in the relevant section.

01 / Cookie Transparency

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small values stored by a browser that can be sent with later requests. Local storage and session storage are separate browser technologies. A script can also transmit information without setting a cookie, so blocking cookies does not necessarily block all measurement.

In short: Google Analytics sets cookies once it is allowed, and the theme switch and cookie choice each save one local-storage value. Nothing else in the website’s own code stores data in your browser. This notice complements our Privacy Policy and describes the code currently used by the website, rather than a completed browser-level cookie inventory.

Google Analytics is present

Inside Peptides loads Google Analytics 4 using Google’s gtag.js script, configured for property G-ZT3MFJC160. It measures website visits and activity. This website is therefore not a zero-analytics or zero-cookie service.

Visitors whose device time zone is in Europe (the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland) see a cookie banner, and the script does not load until they choose Accept. Elsewhere it loads on page visits unless the visitor has opted out. Anyone can change their choice at any time with the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer; choosing Reject also removes existing Google Analytics cookies set on this website.

Analytics cookies and lifetimes

Google documents these standard GA4 cookies:

  • _ga: distinguishes visitors using an identifier; Google documents a default expiration of two years.
  • _ga_*: maintains session state for an Analytics property; Google documents a default expiration of two years.

These are vendor defaults, not verified measurements of this website’s cookies. Names, expiration, and behavior can vary with settings, browser restrictions, and later visits. Analytics-account settings and any advertising-related features have not been independently confirmed.

See Google’s GA4 cookie documentation.

Site features and browser storage

The website sets no cookies of its own. Two features use browser storage:

  • ip-theme (local storage): remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. It is saved only after you use the theme switch, holds the value “light” or “dark”, stays until you clear site data, and is never sent to our server.
  • ip-consent (local storage): remembers your cookie choice, “granted” or “denied”, so we don’t ask again. It is saved only when you choose in the cookie banner, stays until you clear site data, and is never sent to our server.

The custom search, library filters, and contact and newsletter forms do not persist their values in cookies, local storage, or session storage. Some search and filter state can appear in the URL instead.

The contact and newsletter forms submit to this website’s server, which sends emails to the editorial team and a confirmation or welcome email to you. Spam-prevention counters and duplicate-send records are stored server-side as hashes, not in your browser. Hosting infrastructure or third-party scripts may have behavior not established by this source-code review.

Managing cookies and analytics

Your browser settings can block or delete cookies and clear website storage. Browser privacy tools or extensions may also block analytics network requests.

On this website, use “Cookie Settings” in the footer to accept or refuse Analytics at any time. Choosing “Essential only” stops Analytics from loading on later pages and deletes existing _ga cookies for this site. Clearing site data also removes your saved choice, so you may be asked again. Google additionally provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers.

External websites and updates

Following a link to a journal, regulator, registry, or video platform takes you to a separate service with its own cookie policy. This notice does not control those services.

We will revise this page when the site’s measurement or preference features change. For questions, email contact@insidepeptides.org. A runtime cookie inventory and confirmation of analytics settings remain pending.
