Scope of this statement

This page describes current website practices and their limits. Where an operational detail or an assessment has not been confirmed, it is identified in the relevant section.

01 / Inclusive Design

Our approach and conformance status

We aim to make Inside Peptides usable by people with different visual, motor, auditory, and cognitive needs. We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a design and improvement target.

Full conformance has not been established. This statement is not a certification: a full manual audit, assistive-technology evaluation, and user testing have not been completed or documented.

Features implemented in the website

  • A skip-to-content link and semantic navigation, main-content, and footer landmarks.
  • Native links, buttons, form labels, and keyboard focus styling.
  • Responsive layouts, text-based content, and horizontally scrollable research tables.
  • Alternative text for informational images and hidden decorative graphics where implemented.
  • Reduced-motion handling for site animations and custom scrolling; reduced-transparency styling for glass navigation and back-to-top controls.
  • A light/dark theme switch that follows your system setting until you choose otherwise.

These features are present in code. Their presence does not guarantee that every page or interaction works correctly with every browser or assistive technology.

Movement and reading preferences

Use your device’s reduced-motion preference to disable or simplify animations and smooth scrolling. The website does not currently provide its own on-page control for pausing animations, so the device setting is the way to stop them.

Browser zoom and operating-system text settings may help with reading. Reflow, contrast over transparent surfaces, and behavior at high magnification still need manual verification.

Current limitations and areas needing review

  • Complex chemical structures and charts may require a fuller text explanation than a short image description provides.
  • Wide evidence tables may require horizontal scrolling on small screens.
  • Keyboard focus, dynamic filter announcements, and screen-reader behavior across interactive features have not all been manually verified.
  • External papers, PDFs, and video sites may have accessibility limitations outside our control.
  • Continuous decorative motion on the homepage can be distracting, and there is no on-page pause control yet; it stops only when your device requests reduced motion.

We do not claim that every color combination, image description, or interaction has passed an accessibility audit.

Technologies and assessment scope

The website uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG, and decorative canvas graphics. The main articles are delivered as HTML; interactive filtering, some animations, and custom scrolling use JavaScript.

Automated and source-code checks can identify some issues, but cannot establish accessibility on their own. Cross-browser keyboard, screen-reader, zoom, and visual testing remain necessary. The revision date above refers to this statement, not a completed conformance assessment.

Report a barrier or request an alternative

Email contact@insidepeptides.org with the subject “Accessibility”, or use our contact form and choose the topic “Accessibility or technical issue”. Include the page URL, what you were trying to do, and the barrier you encountered. If helpful, include your browser, device, or assistive technology; you do not need to disclose a diagnosis.

You may request clarification or an alternative text explanation of a chart or section. We will assess what can be provided; no fixed response deadline or alternative-format service has been established. Please avoid sending sensitive medical information.

This statement follows the transparency principles in W3C’s guidance on accessibility statements and will be updated as limitations are evaluated and addressed.
